Can you feel the winds of fate, swirling all around you

Like my message in the night, traveled 'til it found you.

Made the contact, gently knocked, opened up the door

Read your thoughts and touched your soul,

but you wanted more.

Gave you all my words and showed everything I am

Came in slowly, just in case, afraid the door might slam

Reaching out my hand to you, trembling as I came

Wanted so to be your friend, thought you'd want the same

Softly, softly touched your thoughts, gently probed your mind

Found that you and I had thoughts, of a kindred kind.

And my words had touched your soul, touched the man in you

Made you yearn and made you hard, made you want me too.

So you sent your words to me, written from the heart

Told me that our souls were twined, shouldn't be apart.

Spoke to me of tender love, but you couldn't see

You were pulling me behind, way too fast for me,

when you said you understood and you turned away

but I'd touched your soul by then, wanted you to stay

Tell me now, how can you miss, what you have never had,

How can a stranger leaving you, make you feel oh so sad.

Why couldn't you just give me time, why couldn't you just see

That if two souls are really joined it's for eternity.

There wasn't any need to rush, no hurry if it's true,

You need to wait until the time my soul may come to you

But losing you has made we weep, I really can't say why,

I can't explain the sense of loss, I will not even try

I never even saw your face, I only know you drew me

I felt the touch of destiny, somehow it seemed you knew me.

I do not know why you refused to be my friend and stay.

You were my phantom in the night,
